Announcing Huskers N Arizona Scholarship Winner for 2022
Our Huskers have a bye week this Saturday 10/22, so it seemed like a good time to announce our scholarship winner for 2022, Christian Jax Almodovar.
Just to remind you, one of the goals of our non-profit club is to raise money for scholarships. Earlier this year, we sent $1000.00 to the University of Nebraska to go towards a Scholarship for a deserving student. Several years ago we began our own scholarship contest for qualified students who plan to attend UNL, or any Arizona school or university. Two key stipulations are: 1)self, parent or grandparent a current paid member of Huskers N Arizona, and 2)self, parent or grandparent born in Nebraska. The deadline was July 28, 2022. Our Board conferred in August to determine the recipient(s), and awarded him the amount we had allocated this year, $5000. (He was the only applicant.)
Here’s a little about him:
Christian is 18 years old and graduated from Pinnacle High School in Phoenix this May with a 3.15 GPA. In addition to being a good student, he was also active in extra-curricular activities such as being the captain of the high school Robotics team, playing on the Pinnacle HS Varsity Hockey Team, volunteering for his church, the Anthony Bates Foundation, and Huskers N Arizona. He received glowing letters of recommendation from his hockey coaches and a former teacher. He is enrolled at Arizona State University this fall in their Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering program with a major in Electrical Engineering.
Please keep our scholarship program in mind for yourself, your kids, or grandkids for next year and on. Here is a link to our Application Form so that you can be aware of the qualifications.
